The kind of imagined vision of the future that today makes you laugh out loud and say, “Oh, come on, how could that even be possible?” could just end up being one of the fantastical forces that advances human civilization.
Human imagination is always one step ahead of the world.
In just a few decades, many scenes that once only existed in novels and sci-fi movies have suddenly become a reality in our daily lives. And that powerful imagination—one that is capable of rewriting the limits of civilization—could be your own, popping up on a whim as you brush your teeth in the morning.
Look ahead, what sort of world do you envision in the year 2040?
If your neighbors were not just humans, what kinds of animals do you think you would share your environment with?
If you were in Taiwan in the morning and could reach the other end of the earth by noon, how would you spend your weekends?
If there were no language barriers, what would your cat say to you?
If houses could be built at the bottom of the ocean and up in the sky, where would you want to live the next time you move?
If seasons could be manmade, how would you change spring, summer, autumn, and winter?
In 2040, will other humans be the ones we can’t live without, or will that be artificial intelligence that is more human than humans?
The Ideathon has launched an activity that will allow everyone to exercise their imagination: We invite you to step into your imagined future, look around, and write a piece of “Future News” for us or extract that unprecedented “Future Prototype” from your mind. Looking forward to 2040, let us brainstorm a plurality for all of humanity!
We still have many obstacles to overcome on the road to 2040: the climate is changing dramatically, human populations are exceeding the earth’s carrying capacity, the tug-of-war between countries are affecting politics and the economy, and technological advances are impacting the environment. However, if we gather everyone’s “what if” ideas about the future and let everyone’s hope coexist with their ideas, then endless possibilities can be stored up with their own place in the world where every small universe can be realized in the future.
No one can predict the future.
But we believe that as long as you have hope and let your imagination run wild, the future starts now!
